Ransonnet's Surfperch

This fish has an oval-shaped, flat body. It has a small mouth, and the far tip of the upper jaw does not quite reach the level of the eyes. There is a slight dent in its head above the eyes, and the hard spines of the back fin are lower than the soft portion. The tail fin has a deep groove and is forked. It is yellow-green near the back and silver white toward its belly.
