Objective

Axian, King of the Dead, declares to summon him to the world of the living requires another pact, and seeks to test if you're worthy of paying that price.

※ If you fail to defeat Axian's shadow, you must forfeit and reaccept the quest from Illezra's Altar to receive another summon scroll.
※ You must discard Axian's Contract (summon scroll) in order to reaccept the quest.
Use Axian's Contract from your inventory to fight and defeat Axian's Shadow;

However, to call upon me, the King of the Dead,
into the world of the living is another pact entirely.
Is this the will of the Thornwood NPC Knowledge Goddess?
Then, to see if you can handle that price,
I shall test you with my people who just entered the world of the dead,
those who shed the blood of countless innocents on this soil.
